Linda Conaway Weldon has kindly allowed me space to share my Vaughan files from 40 plus years of genealogy research. Almost all of my files are organized by county. It is my belief in researching genealogy that knowing specifically where our ancestors lived answers a great many questions and directs us where we might find even more answers. You will find a heavy reliance on deeds and tax digests in these files. Deeds are organized alphabetically by each person. If more than one Vaughan is mentioned in a deed, the deed is repeated under each name. Virginia tax digests, help identify when a person comes of age or moves to an area as well as when they die or move from an area. Please enjoy. Especially in the early years, spelling of the family name was most based upon the record keeper of the day. For that reason I chose a long time ago to ignore the spelling in the records and opt to use “Vaughan” for almost all of my abstracts. In many cases I have had to make some judgment calls as to whether two or more records refer to one person or more than one person.
