County Intro
Goochland County was split off of Henrico County in 1728. Goochland County later spawned Albemarle, Amherst, Nelson, Buckingham, Appomattox, Fluvanna, Cumberland and Powhatan Counties.
Parish Intro
The original parish for Henrico County was Henrico Parish. St. James Parish was split off in 1720. When Goochland County was formed in 1728 St. James Parish was included in Goochland County. In 1744, St. James Parish was split into St. Anne's and Southam Parish. The area of Southam Parish became the same as the area of Goochland County.
