RAYHOND CHRISTIAN, 1824 Greenhaven Lane. Grapevine. TX 76051      descends from
SARAH "SALLY" VAUGHAN, b. 1822, Hawkins Co TN and married M. LEWIS CHRISTIAN.  Is
there a connection between that family and that of ALLEN CHRISTIAN who stated in the
TN CIVIL WAR VETERANS QUESTIONNAIRES that his parents were DAVID CHRISTIAN and MARY
VAUGHN, and gr-parents were ALLEN VAUGHN and NELLEY STEEL of "Hockens Co TN"?
If anyone has information on these families, please write me (Verna).

VALERIE WEBB, 1340 Amity, Dallas, TX 75217  drew my attention to her street name
being typed as Amith instead of Amity in the November 1988 issue.  She descends from
ELIJAH VAUGHN who married DOROTHEA "DOLLY" JACKSON.  More information on this family
is printed in this issue--see Edna McKeehan entry.

CRAIGW. SMITH, 718 N. Olive, Seguin. TX 78155  and wife recently spent time in
the Edgefield Co SC area and found additional Vaughan facts:
BECKHAM VAUGHAN signed as a witness to a deed wherein AMY VAUGHAN bought land in
1826. From other records found, they think Amy was Beckham's mother, but no proof.
Amy died intestate in 1854, and in papers settling her estate it was stated that
CALVIN VAUGHAN and JAMES VAUGHAN were her sons (also administrators of the estate).
The final settlement was made in 1857, and BECKHAM, JAMES, DIANA, and CALVIN VAUGHAN
all received equal shares.  Amy's husband is never mentioned so he must have died
before 1826.  Son JAMES' will (filed in Edgefield courthouse) written in 1860 names
his daughters ELIZABETH and MARY VAUGHAN (who had married SMITH LIVINGSTON).
A book in the Edgefield Archives Library notes that BECKHAM VAUGHAN married
PENELOPE OGILVIE Dec. 19, 1829.  Penelope died June 26, 1830.  Beckham later appears
in Loundes Co AL.  Other facts of his life were given in the Nov. 1988 Newsletter.
Craig found Beckham and wife HARTY ANN living with their daughter MAGGIE NEWBERRY in
Falls Co TX 1850 census.  He is listed as a boarder and a "retired merchant", and
she is listed as a boarder and "assistant housekeeper."

ROBERT VanDYNE. 1849 Roberts. Sali'na. KS 67401 received information in 1981 from .
HELEN RUTH VAUGHAN about her research on the name SHERWOOD VAUGHAN.
An abstract of her three pages of data includes:
**Sherwood Vaughan received land for having served in the Rev. War.
**Sherwood Vaughan married ELIZABETH HALE Oct. 20, 1815.
**JOHN GEORGE VAUGHAN (m. NANCY MATLOCK) and WILLIAM VAUGHAN (m. EDY MATLOCK),
These men may be sons of above Sherwood.  Helen then lists descendants of
these Vaughan-Matlock marriages.
**Land deeds in 1838 of Sherwood Vaughan and Mary Vaughan and their heirs, but
these do not state that they were husband and wife.
**There are death records of a Sherwood Vaughan, Washington Co TN where he died
at age 79.  He was listed on the 1850 census.

HAYWOOD VAUGHAN. 518 2nd NH, Ardmore. OK 73401     sent a will made 1816 in
Nottoway Co, VA by NICHOLAS VAUGHAN who Haywood believes is the father of "his"
THOMAS VAUGHAN who married LENA ELLINGTON.  (See 1984 Newsletter for details.)
Nicholas Vaughan's wi11 names children RICHARD, JOHN, THOMAS ELIZABETH HUDSON and
JUDITH VAUGHAN. Witnesses WILLIS FILLER, WILLIAM JACKSON, JOHN RUDD, & JONAH NOBLE.
As one of Thomas and Lena's daughters married a NOBLE (lived Dyersburg, TN), it is
interesting that a Jonah Noble witnessed the will of Nicholas Vaughan.
Two sons of Thomas and Lena were doctors: JOHN and HENRY ALLEN.
Haywood is trying to put together information on the line of MARIA CUTLER, b 1790,
in Boston to Dr. WILLIAM CUTLER & SALLY HENDERSON.  Maria m. Dr. THEODORICK LOVE
(Dinwiddie, VA).  Their dau CORDELIA HENDERSON LOVE married the above Dr. HENRY
ALLEN VAUGHAN (Haywood's gr-grandparents).  Can anyone help with Cutlers?

RANDOLPH N. CURRIE, 5834 N. Main St. Sylvama. OH 43560   would like to have
more Wormati'on on PHtLiP VAUGHN who m. MARGARET BLANTON (ca 1762-1791) of Caroline
Co VA.  They had 2 sons and 2 daughters.  MARY, b. ca1782, and WILLIAM, b. ca1787
are the ones known by Randolph.  Philip was still in Caroline Co in 1787.  He is
said to have gone to SC ca1796, and was evidently in KY by 1802.  He was still
living in 1807 and may have been the Philip whose wi11 is recorded in Green Co KY.
