BARBARA THOMPSON, 75 Old Humboldt Rd, Jackson, TN 38305    now thinks that maybe
she joins the group of people mentioned on p. 8 of the Jan. 1988 issue speculating about JAMES
VAUGHAN (b. ca 1745) whose father was WILLIAM who d. 1786, Mecklenburg Co VA, and l
eft widow MILDREDGE.  In William's will, he left a slave named JACOB to his son JAMES.
Barbara has found a James on the Personal Property Tax List of Mecklenburg Co VA 1787 with
sons STERLING and WILLIAM (both age 16-21) and a slave named JACOB.   Also William
owned land next to James on the Buffalo River in Mecklenburg Co.  She wonders if she might "have
something" with this clue. She also sent a pension application for service in War of 1812 by WILLIAM
VAUGHN, aged 81, living in Henry Co TN.  He m. NANCY PIERCE 10 Nov 1813.    He died
1872 before the pension was approved so his children SUSAN HUEY (?) and STEPHEN were
awarded the pension settlement.

WILLIAM R. MILLS. Jr. P.O. Box 32. Douglas. GA 31533   Is researching the VAUGHN
and MURPHY family of VA, NC, SC, GA, and AL.His interest is in EDWARD WILLS, b 1758
in England,  later Rev. soldier.  His mother married "on board ship" bound for America to "Mr.
Murphy" (possibly John).  Edward was shown 1784 in Martin Co NC and later married SARAH
VAUGHN (marriage bond in Richmond Co NC by ABNER VAUGHN in 1786) and moved to
Jackson Co GA before 1803.    They had several daughters (born in VA) before first son THOMAS
was born in GA 1797.   The youngest son EDWARD GROCE WILLS subsequently named his son
JOHN MURPHY VAUGHN WILLS (physician). He is also interested in information on the
HUNDLEY VAUGHAN line.

LINDA VAUGHN, P.O. Box 46?, Barnsdall, OK 74002  adds this data to that given p.44 of May
issue: WILLIAM HOWARD VAUGHAN (d 1912) & ANNA LAVERNE BELL (d 1915) had

ARTHUR. WILLIAM ARTHUR VAUGHAN (b 1877) & ERIE BULLINGTON (b 1888) had children-.

this family?
