EDNA SMITH McKEEHAN, 817 Sixth St, Cheney, MA 99004   sent a 6-page story of the
JACKSON (VAUGHN) FAMILY HISTORY which had been given to her mother in 1938.  She
doesn't know the author;  but it gives details about these families featured on
page 85 of the November 1988 Newsletter.    The story tells about JOSIAH JACKSON
and wife DOROTHA ASHURST, their son FRANCIS FLOURNEY JACKSON, and their daughter
DOROTHA who married ELIJAH VAUGHN.
Interesting facts on were given about
STEPHEN JACKSON VAUGHN and wife PERMELIA NIBLICK.
JACKSON JOSHIA VAUGHN  and wives NANCY TILLERY DAVIO & MARY McCULLOUGH.
JOSIAH JACKSON VAUGHN  and wife MARY PATTERSON STEWART, d/o JESTINE SHARP.
FRANCIS JACKSON VAUGHN, PATTERSON STEWART VAUGHN, JESTEENE VAUGHN HOWDESHELL),
NANCY ELLEN VAUGHN HART,  and MARY ELLA VAUGHN WOODS (siblings).
THOMAS STEWART and son JAMES.

MABEL HARP, 401 S. Powell, Wagoner  OK 74462    draws attention to the fact that
it is easy for a person to seemingly make a connection to the family of WILLIAM and
FERE6Y BENTON VAUGHN.  Because much has been written about this family, and their
children's names were fairly common, it becomes tempting to "latch on to" this line
without well documented proof.
She also sent a wi11 of ABRAHAM VAUGHAN, proved Charlotte Co in 1796, which names
children   WILLIAM,    FELIX,    BOLLING (?),   JOHN,    LEWIS,     MILLY SMITH,
SALLY MAHONEY,  NANCY CHILDRY,   DAVID,   MOLLY, and  BAILEY.       Wife:  ANN.
Witnesses:  EPHARIM BOULDEN   and  WOOD BOULDEN.

MARY GREGG, 3604 Spottswood, K, Memphis, TN 38111  copied this item from the
Memphis, TN COMMERCIAL APPEAL newspaper:
125 YEARS AGO     Sept. 3, 1855
MR. McFARLAND, the clerk of the court of Greene County, AR, writes as follows:
"We had a murder in our town on the day of the election.  A.L. Stuart shot RILEY
VAUGHAN three times; first in the breast, second through the head, and then through
under the shoulders, and killed him so dead he hardly breathed.  STUART was taken
up, tried, and acquitted.  VAUGHAN had threatened him."

VAUGHN BRYANT. Rt 19. Box 253. Hot Springs Nat1 Park  AR 71913 provided funding
to the Garrard County Library in Lancaster, KY for the establishment and maintenance
of a special file to contain material on the OWSLEY and BRYANT families. Research on
THOMAS and ABIGIAL (FRANKLIN) VAUGHAN and their descendants wilt also be housed with
the collection because the families are intertwined.

ANN HARPER BONNER, 209 Magnolia Way, Huntsville, TX 77340   copied information
from the CLAIBORNE PARISH, LA, CONVEYANCE RECORDS, Vol. A, 1850-1853 which names:
TELLINGHAST VAUGHN,    WYATT BROWN,    JACOB SHOFNER,   GEORGE W. PRICE,
J.H. CUNNINGHAM,   ALEX RAGLAND,   M.M. MARKOE,    J.R. RAMSEY.
CATHY JAMES, 3020 Hwy 1131, Vidor, TX 77662     would like to know if WILLIAM
VAUGHAN (1785 SC) and wife MILLY (1787 SC) who were in Green Co AR in 1850 census
were related to WARREN VAUGHAN (1807 KY)?  In their household was another WARREN
VAUGHAN (b. 1831 TN) and a JOEL VAUGHAN (b. 1831 TN).     These could have been
grandchildren. She feels there must have been some connection between that William
and "her" Warren because "Warren" was not a common name, and here were two in the
same county.     Seems highly unusual.  Could this have been the same WILLIAM listed
in the 1820 and 1830 Wi11iamson County TN census reports?

ELHA HECKLE. 18 Jay Dr, Gulfport, MS 39503 wrote that her grandfather was JAMES
CARL (JIMMIE) VAUGHN of KY and AR.She said she had the names of his wives and
children, but she has not sent that information on to me.  Does anyone recognize
the name?
