data on the family of BENJAMIN VAUGHAN, b 1789, VA, & CATHERINE HENSON,
b 1796, NC. Their children were\BENJAMIN, NANCY, CHARLES, and WILLIAM.
WILLIAM BIEWENER, 410 Valencia Ave, Burbank. CA 9T506 descends from ENOS
VAUGHN through his son DAVID who finally moved to MO where he had four sons: ENOS,
who fought for the South in the Civil War; JOE, who fought for the North; DAVID; and
NEWTON; plus several daughters. Does anyone know what happened to Newton after he
moved to California? He wonders if the owner of Vaughn Buick, Inc., descends from Newton.
William asks for info on Brig. Gen. JOHN C. VAUGHN who fought for the South during the
Civil War. He is also curious about how long old school records are kept and how one would
obtain them.
A. K. BLACK, P.O. Box 527. Lake City, FL 32055 would like to have the name of a research
genealogist in Benton Co TN. He is interested in obtaining further data on the family of GEORGE
WASHINGTON VAUGHAN, b 1816, as listed on p. 72 of the November 1987 Newsletter.
Does anyone know where the family Bible from which these records were originally copied is now
kept? In 1912 it was in the care of Mrs. MILDRED VAUGHAN BOUTON, Lebanon, TN and
her son LEMUEL VAUGHAN.
CHARLENE BRAZELL, 6306 Quail Ridge Rd. BartlesviHe. OK 74006 wrote about a special
workshop which her local genealogical society sponsors. The club rents a copy machine for a day
and invites members to bring their own research and books and allow others to make copies as
needed. It is a popular workshop and costs less than hiring a speaker.

children of CHARLES SYLVESTER VAUGHN and JOSEPHINE HUTCHINSON. (see Nov.
1987 Newsletter, p. 61). After the death of their parents in California, they lived the rest of their
lives in the area of Lyndon, Illinois.

in upper SC might contact Archives & Special Collections, Dacus Library, Winthrop College, Rock
Hill, SC 29733. This Library has a collection of family histories, research papers and correspondence
between researchers of SC people in which she found a new line with 8 generations, ALL
DOCUMENTED.. She strongly recommends this source. A letter listing surnames you are searching
will bring a.reply with a11 cost, $7.50 per surname file researched and 25 cents per page to copy,
listed for you. She also has found a "jewel of a researcher" in western NC. Anyone interested may
contact Bill ie who will forward the name and address of the researcher who is very productive and
