issue an interesting letter about the family of his mother LOUISE ADELE's father JAMES
VAUGHAN, who came from England. Siblings of JAMES were JOE, who went to
Australia; LOUISA, who married a dark but had no family; CHARLOTTE, who went
to winnepeg; NELLIE, who married a Stephenson and had a family; and MARY.

DOROTHY WOOD MOORE, president of the Hunt Co TX Genealogical Society, offers
more information about the work of that group. (See the Nov. 1987 Newsletter for Marriage
Records of Hunt Co as compiled by John Armstrong.) Would you like to have the original
marriage certificate for your ancestor? These signed certificates were retained by the Clerk
until someone asked for them. I suppose many couples forgot to make that request. In
1982 I found the one belonging to my grandparents JOHN McCARTY VAUGHAN and
CORA THORN where it had been waiting in the McLennan County TX Clerk's office
since their marriage in 1894. If your ancestors were married in Huniy |Co TX, you might
find their certificate. The Hunt Co Commissioners Court passed a motion allowing the
Genealogical Society to distribute the old licenses (some dated as early as 1858--others
through 1962) to descendants of the persons listed on the documents. Requests from
living persons listed on documents are also welcome. If you want one, write HUNT CO
GENELOGICAL SOCIETY, MARRIAGE LICENSE, P.O. Box 398, Greenville, TX
75401. Enclose an addressed and stamped legal-size envelop with: Name of groom, bride,
date of marriage, relationship to bride or groom, along with your name and address.
Processing and mailing may take six or eight weeks.
MABEL HARP, 401 S. PoweTl, Wagoner, OK 74467 and I are searching for Information
on the relationship of VAUGHANS, ROGERS and ROLLER families in the area of Scott Co
VA and Hancock and Hawkins Co TN. She has some information on Douswel/Dowsell
Rogers who married ELIZABETH VAUGHAN, d/o JAMES VAUGHAN, b. 1767; but
some of this information seems conflicting. Can you help us with these families? He will share
extenstive research. My ancestor was THOMAS, sister of Elizabeth. Mabel and I suspect
that her ancestor John and my James were brothers.
CHRISTINE CONRAD. 2670 Palumbo Dr. lexington. KY 40509 descends from ALLEN
VAUGHAN whom we believe to be a brother of the above THOMAS and ELIZABETH.
If you have facts on any ALLEN who lived in the Hawkins or Hancock county TN area,
please write her. She has information on what seems to be two Aliens.
