A.W. ROLLINS, 4049 Canon Ave, Oakland, CA 94602 has been very patient with me for
mis-typing his name twice in the newsletter.  I typed it as ROBBINS.  Not only did I "mess up"
his name, I also put him at the wrong addressi  Now, it is correct.so hopefully he will receive
letters from some of you.  See pages 26 and 50 in the 1986 issues of the Newsletter.  As I
used to tell my typing students, there is nothing so hard and boring and essential as proofreading
carefully1

FAYE FORD, 629 Atlanta Dr., Hermitage, TN 37076 made many readers happy with her
contribution of the newspaper story about the diary of REV. GIDEON LOWE written as he
 and REV. MELKIJAH VAUGHAN traveled the Cumberland River doing missionary work.
A number of the readers asked for copies of the full newspaper story.  Many, many thanks to
Faye for sharing this with us.

Bernieca believes these men are brothers.  Related families (ALLEE, BIRDSONG, HILL) migrated
 from Barren Co KY to Missouri.  Vaughan and Hill family connections seem to appear often.
Anyone have the solution to the proper placement of names and dates?

WILLIAM VAUGHAN, birthdate unknown, d 1846, Crawford Co MO,  m EDA MATLOCK in
1828 at Jonesboro, Washington Co TN, and his brother JOHN VAUGHAN who m. NANCY
MATLOCK?  Idell will pay the postage and copying costs and will exchange family information,

HELEN VAUGHN, 7577 Bear Swamp Road, Wadsworth, OH 44281 seeks any Information on
the ROBERT G. VAUGHN family.  He m. SARAH C. BROWN, 30 Oct 1890 in Clay Co AL.
Their chlldreni JOEL W.,   LEWIS M.,   JAMES W.,   SUSAN J.,   THEORDORE R., JASPER D., 
LILER B., and possibly more after 1910.  Robert worked in a cotton mill, Columbus, GA 1908, and
was farming in Randolph Co Alabama in 1910 census.  Family says they went wast and were never
heard from again.  Helen has lots of names, events on SC and GA Vaughns which she will share.

ROGER C. VAUGHAN, 4201 Clairmont Aye. Birmingham. M. 35222  continues the search for the
ancestors of WILLIAM VAUGHAN, b 1803 in SC and d 1885 in Cleburne Co AL, whc served in
the GA Militia, Henry Co.  Elected 1st Lt, June 1827 and Capt. June 1829.  Drew Lot ( 298 in Cass
Co GA in the 1832 Cherokee Land Lottery.  Ml 1833, and M2   JANE MCCOMMACK 1841 in
Henry Co tfA.  Lived in (Cherokee) Cass (Barton) Co GA. Movoil to Cleburne Co AL in 1852. 
Was deeded 80 acres in 1852.

THE RING TOURNAMENT IN THE US by Esther & Ruth Crooks.  The book is filled with name

ELLA "DIXIE" NEWBURY, P.O. 443, Livennore, CA 94550 descends from DOLLY (DOLA)
ANN VAUGHN, b. ca 1820 on Staten Island NY.  Her father was from NJ, and her mother from
MA.  Married DAVID G. PHILBRICK in 1844.  Lived Watrousville, MI. In the 1860 census,
names of EUNICE & CARL VAUGHAN are listed in the Philbrick household.
