MOORE, 149 Village Green, #505, San Antonio, TX 78148 in the form of census records,
family sheets, and copies of file cards which Alice keeps on Vaughan connections. This gave
Alma Dean evidence that put her on the right track. Maybe someone can help her prove that
UPTON VAUGHAN, a child in the family of WILLIAM VAUGHAN and MARY UPTON,
is indeed the same as her gr-gr-grandfather Upton Vaughan in the 1850 Holmes Co MS
census. She sent a history of MARY VAUGHAN, dau/of Upton. More of this history will be
printed in the January 1988 issue; but if you would like to have a copy of her 10 pages of
research, send her or me about $2.50 for copying and postage. If that is your family, this is a
cheap price!!
LEAH DeVORE, 310 E. Market. Havana, IL 62644 sent OeVore marriages found in the
Marriage Books of Tazewell Co IL.Her great gr-father was JAMES W. DeVORE who m.
ROSE ANN SLACK 22 Jan 1872, was the son of CORNELIUS DeVORE. She would
like to get in touch with someone who can knows something about SARAH ELIZABETH
(ELIZA) VAUGHN who m. CORNELIOUS DeVORE about 1846. She has marriage
data for a Cornelius and another lady in Coles Co IL prior to when Cornelius and Sarah
were married. They came from southern Illinois, so it is possible it is the same Cornelius.
Sarah was born in KY. Lean has more Corneliuses listed in her research, and her uncle
Raymond has Cornelius for part of his name, but no one seemed to know why.
DAWN GARCIA, 212 Missouri St. San Francisco, CA 94107 searches for ancestors of
CHARLES SYLVESTER VAUGHN, b 1846, Tamaqua, PA, lived in Illinois, and died in
northern California, 2 Nov 1890 in an accident at the mining camp of Port Wine. She
suspects that his mother was ELIZA VAUGHN, also married to LEVI KINMAN, who
was b 20 Dec 1823, and d. 2 Dec 1889. Charles Sylvester m. JOSEPHINE
HUTCHINSON, 1875 at Erie IL. Their children: BERTRAND D., b 1879, GEORGE E.,
b. 1881, MABEL E., b. 1883, and ELIZA (LYDA), b. 1887. Charles and Josephine died
in CA by 1890, so the children took the long trip by train all by themselves back to IL where
WILLIAM ORR of Hillsdale, IL (don't know who he was) became their legal guardian. So
there are many mysteries still unsolved. She sent seven pages of interesting details about
this family.

locating any related member of the JAMES (JIMMY) SINGLETON VAUGHN family.
Jimmy married about 1903/04 MISSOURI ANN (DOLLY) WHITE BARNHILL at Dime
Box, Lee Co TX. She was a widow with children ENNIS, EARNEST, HORACE, LEVI.
& ALICE. They moved to Grady Co OK and had issue

The father of James was JOHN Z. WALKER VAUGHN, who d. at Keith, TX.
John's other children were: HENRY, ROXIE ANN (m JOHN FRANKLIN WHITE,
bro of Dolly), KATE (m FRANK RAMSEY, uncle of Dolly & John White), and ELI.
Virginia also has information on the family of BENJAMIN PRICE, who married 1749
MILLICENT VAUGHN, the dau/o ABRAHAM VAUGHN of Baltimore Co MD.
She would like more information on this Vaughn/Vaughan line.
BETTY HORN, 4805 N. Locust St, No. Little Rock, AR 72116 has been searching for
a HELENA VAUGHAN/VAUGHN who m. HARBERt tucker, b. 1761 Amelia Co VA.
Helena was his 2nd wife. Now she has learned that Helena's name was not Vaughn/Vaughan
but VARNAN!. She has looked for a long time for VAUGHN/VAUGHAN and now must
start on a new search for VARNAN. Good luck! Does this strike any chords with anyone?
ARLENE HOWARD, 316 W. 9th. Bristow. OK 74010 descends from THOMAS
VAUGHN b 1870 to ENOS VAUGHN b. 1842 to DAVID VAUGHN b 1805 to ENOS
VAUGHN b 1775 in VA. This last Enos and brothers THOMAS and ELIJAH married
JACKSON sisters, PATSY, NANCY, and DOROTHA. She would like to find other
members of Enos' family in Virginia. She would like also info on the MCCONNELL and
ASHURST families that married into the VAUGHN family line.
