correct) shares notes from HISTORY OF THE OLD CHERAWS, p. 53: EVAN VAUGHN
mentioned as being in following group: the "Welch Neck" which extended from Crooked Creek
above, on its outer line, to the "Red Bluff below," a distance of about six miles, embracing the
rich lands of the swamp. During the Revolution, or about a generation after the first settlement,
the "Company which mustered at the McCall old field, numbered from 130 to 140, an of them
said to be Welch. By the latter part of 1737, most of the families from PA had arrived. At this
time a respectable portion of the colony consisted of JAMES JAMES, PHILIP JAMES, ABEL
JAMES, DANIEL JAMES, THOMAS EVANS, SAMUEL EVANS, EVAN VAUGHAN...
EVAN VAUGHN is listed on Queensborough Township Plots, Aug. 15, 1743 with 350 acres.

JOHN RUDD, WILLIAMS JACKSON. Dated 1816 (7). I will try to get this transcribed and
