JOHN ELMER VAUGHN (known as ED). She thinks he was born in Pennsylvania on 27 Jan
1864; married MARGARET ALICE BOLEN on 26 Feb 1902. He had a brother PRESTON
and at least two sisters, SADIE and IDA. Suspect he left home at age 13.

information on NAPOLEON BONAPART VAUGHAN b 1838 MS; m. ELLEN C.
HANCOCK 1864 in MS.Both d. Meatherford, TX. Their son WILLIAM CORNELIUS
VAUGHAN, b. 1869 Clifton Hills, MO m. MARY ALBERTA BELL 1894, probably in
Weatherford, TX. She will answer all letters. Maudine's sister is recording burials in Eastland
Co TX and has a collection of names recorded in computer memory. For a SASE, she will
search for a name in which you are interested. In the January 1987 issue, I will print some
Vaughan/Vaughn lists which she sent.
IRVIN SANDERS, 2362 E. Dartmouth Ave, Englewood. CO 80110 recently wrote VIVIAN
BANDY, 49 San Miguel, San Mateo, CA 94403, answering her query of 1984, asking for
parents of PASCHAL M. VAUGHAN. His parents were WILLIS VAUGHAN and BETSY
WRIGHT. He believes that Minis' parents were another WILLIS VAUGHAN and EDITH
GUNN, and this Willis' parents were ROBERT and MARTHA VAUGHAN. He obtained
this information from a Vaughan Family History book which mainly gives data about JOHN
WILEY VAUGHAN, a son of Paschal and Julia, and his second wife ELIZABETH TURNER
WARD and their descendants. Irvin is a descendant of JOHN D. VAUGHAN and his wife
TABITHA GRAVES. A dau of theirs was SAMANTHA CATHERINE VAUGHAN who
m. JOHN MADISON MORROW—great grparents of Irvin. They lived in Weaktey Co TN
from middle 1800's until the 1880's, then moved to Jones Co TX, where they were neighbors
of John Wiley Vaughan. John Wiley and John D. were neighbors in Weakley Co TN in the
1860's and 1870's. How were they related? Also, who were the parents of John D. Vaughan
and of his wife Tabitha Graves? More on his family in the January issue.
LERLINE and CECIL STOKELY, P.O. Box 127, New London, TX 75682 sent a family
sheet for JOHN HARVEY STOKELY and wife SARAH ELIZABETH BLOUNT, m. ca1815.
Their son ERASMUS m. NANCY H. VAUGHN in 1857. Son JOHN BLOUNT (JACK)
m. MARY VIRGINIA VAUGHN. The family has not identified either of these Vaughn ladies,
and wonder if they were sisters. More confusion comes from a marriage record they found
which seems to indicate that Mary Virginia had been married before she married Jack. All that
is on her tombstone is Mary Virginia Stokely.
MICHAEL WYNNE. Rt 4. Box 384, Pineville, LA 71360 recently learned new facts about
his most distant ancestor WILLIAM VAUGHAN who m. EDA MATLOCK on 25 Oct 1828
in Washington Co TN. Eda was dau/of ZACHARIAH MATLOCK (ca1756-1837) and
EMILY PAINE. William and Eda Vaughan's known children include;

LEWIS CLAYTON VAUGHAN, P.O. Box 241, Terrell. TX 75160 has traced back to his
gr-grandparents SAMUEL VAUGHAN, b 20 Mar 1781, d 28 Aug 1856, and NANCY
NICHOLSON (NIKLESON) VAUGHAN, b 20 Nov 1817, d 1892. Both died and were
buried in Lauderdale Co AL. The only information prior to that is the name of Nancy's father,
which was .MALACHI NICHOLSON from NC. :
