COMPILER: Allen D. GARTON, 3303 Madison, Des Moines, IA 50310

ALLEN GARTON, 3303 Madison, Des Moines, IA 50310 wrote that on the day the James Boys robbed the
bank at Corydon, IA, STEPHEN VAUGHN, Allen's [great]grandfather, was also there on business.  He met
one of the James Boys on the street, but the story does not identify which one.  The James fellow tipped his
hat to Stephen and said, "Hello, cousin Steve."  Stephen returned home and had visitors for supper that
evening, unaware that the bank had been robbed.  Allen suggests that we draw our own conclusions.  He also
wonders if there were always Vaughns in the communities where banks were robbed; and if so, did similar
stories come from those families.  See p. 11, January 1987 issue for details on Stephen and his family.  One
of his sons was CHARLES WESLEY, whose family sheet is printed above.

MRS. HAROLD CASEY, 5901 E. 101st, Kansas City, MO 64134 descends from SENA VAUGHN, d/o DAVID
and SENA (McCONNELL) VAUGHN.  She has just begun her search, so will appreciate help from anyone
familiar with these names.

DOROTHY BROWN, P.O. Box1806, Sterling, CO 80751 wrote that her gr-mother SARAH ELIZABETH
VAUGHN was born in MS.  Later the family lived around Whitesboro, TX.  She married CHARLES
HORACE BEATY and lived at Terral, Jefferson Co, OK in 1889.  This is all the information she has.
She needs help!
