DARLENE ROGERS, 411 Cass Ave. Edwardsvllle, IL 62025 searches for THOMAS VAUGHN,
b 1823, d 1862-64 St. dair Co IL.  in (1) HARRIETT ELLIOTT, (2) MARY ANN OBRIST
YAJGHN.  Can anyone help?  Does anyone know the relationship between SIPPY's and
VAJGHNS?  Between MELKIJAH VAU6HN and her THOMAS VAU6HN7  She believes
Thomas" father was named JOHN, but she hasn't proved that.  Darlene enclosed copies of a
small Bible dated 1760 given to her Vaughn family by the Sippy family of St. Louis.  Notations
 in the Bible are:
PRESENTED TO THE FOREIGN MISSIONARY SOCIETY, July 9, 1823.  Presented to
W. F. BAIRD by M. L. VAU6HAN, June 19th 1860,  Laguardo, TN.
MARY HALL.

VAUGHAN, a Presbyterian Minister of Wilson Co TN who m. January 5, 1820 SARAH R.
VAUGHAN (b 1798 d 1873).  He had a brother LITTLEBERRY VAUGHAN who settled
in Mississippi. If you would like a copy of these five pages, send me a long SASE with 39 cents

GRACE RUSSELL. 1759 Marshall Ave, Stockton. CA 95205  writes that the newsletter gives
her lots of details on lots and lots of Vaughan/Vaughns, Etc, but nothing on her COLEMAN
VAUGHAN of Smyrna, TN and Monroe Co MS.  See the January 1985 Issue for the details
she has on her family.

NEAL SHORTZ, 10119 Lawnhaven Court, Indianapolis. In 46229   descends from ELIZABETH
(BETTIE) VAUGHN who went with her husband THOMPSON UTTERBACK from Portsmouth,
OH in 1828 to Montgomery Co IN.  She was the dau/o DAVID & CATHERINE (ANDERSON)
VAUGHN.  Elizabeth was born 9 Jul 1790, and d 9 Aug 1845.  She is buried in the Potts Cemetery
in Montgomery Co IN.  Since DANIEL VAUGHN went to IN with the Utterback family, Neal had
assumed that he was the brother of Elizabeth;  but he now believes that may not be true because the
mother's age does not fit other details.  Neal has found the name spelled both Vaughan, Vaughn, and
even Von!  He wrote that a Vaughan Cemetery is located in Ripley Township, Montgomery Co
IN, near Alamo.  One name there is JAMES D. VAUGHAN, d 24 May 1867.  A book THE
UTTERBACK FAMILY (1937) is now being reprinted by David Utterback. Neal's data on the
descendants of Thompson and Elizabeth (Vaughan) Utterback is more complete than that listed in
the Utterback family book.  He has searched through Montongery Co IN birth, marriage, and
death records and has gone through cemeteries to copy inscriptions.  Perhaps those of you who
have these connections would be interested in contacting Neal.

of his death ca 1880.  See Newsletter, p. 42, October 1984.
