Book about pioneers of Oklahoma planned
Information on ordinary people sought
MARGARET ANN THETFORD
FAMILY TREE

Marie C. Almon, P.O. Box 672, Edmond OK 73083, sent information to Family Tree readers about a
proposed book, Oklahoma: The First Hundred Years, which will contain history and genealogies of the
ordinary people who built Oklahoma.  William Zellner, sociology professor at East Central Oklahoma
State University in Ada, is patterning this book after a successful one he produced last year on Nebraska
families.
Those with Oklahoma ancestors are invited to contribute original narratives, copies of newspaper
clippings and family information.  If you want to participate, write Zellner at the college, Ada, OK 74820,
to request the necessary genealogy charts and information sheets.
The State Fair of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City runs through Sept. 28 and features winners of the
genealogy competition in 10 categories.  This annual event is co-sponsored by the Oklahoma Genealogical
Society and is part of the fair's “Hobbies. Arts and Crafts” departments.  Oklahoma genealogists can
request information about entering next year's competition from Joan Bryant, State Fair of Oklahoma,
P.O. Box74943, Oklahoma City 73147.

From THE DALLAS MORNING NEWSPAPER.

Although the state fair for 1986 is gone, one can make plans for 1987.
