 VAUGHN HILSOM, 28735 Summerwood Rd, MI 48018, thanks to the NEWSLETTER, saying Noah. her great-uncle, was Alberta's husband's grandfather.The father of Moan. and William H.H., as well as 10 siblings, was WILLIAM VAUGHN whoa. FRANCIS JANE MCKINZE. William's father was MALAKI or JAMES MALAKI, b in Lincoln Co KY. Noah's dau JENNIE m AUGUSTUS CAMPBELL in 1882 at Greenville, IL. It seems that part of the family migrated from KY to southern IL. Can any reader shed more light on this family?

A. K. BLACK, P.O. Box 527, Lake City^ fL 32056-0527 has found more infa on his maternal gr
grandfather GEOBGE WASHINGTON VAUGHAN. (See NEWSLETTER, July 1984). A.K. has
conflicting records of his death in Brooks Co GA. One records reads 21 July 1865, and a Bible record says October 1865. A George W. Vaughan subscribed to the SAVANNAH REPUBLICAN TRI-WEEKLY newspaper and paid 53.50 for the paper from 23 July 1863 to 23 Oct 1863. A.K's grmother was b 22 Sep 1865. A George Washington Vaughan worked in Brooks Co GA in 1863 or 64.  A family rumor says that George departed from Brooks Co GA between 1864 and 1865, accompanied by his two very young sons. They seem to have headed north- Is the rumor that George was a deserter from the Confederate Army true? A.K. has written to the proper agency in Washington to ascertain if there is any record to this effect. He also has a sample of George's handwriting.   Can anyone help him unravel this mystery?

BETY BIAKE, Rt 1, Box 236, Chuckey, TO 37641 says family tradition relates that their WILLIAM VAUGHN migrated from VA to TN to fight in the Indian Wars. He had two sons and a dau VINY.   BERRY HENRY (2nd son) b 1822, d 1911 and buried Greene Co TN,  ml ELIZABETH PAINTER (daus MARTHA ELLEN & CATHERINE) and ai2 MARILLA GREEN (children WILLIAM THOMAS, GEORGE, SILAS MARTIN, RACHEL). Berry fought in Mexican War and on Confederate side in the Civil War. In 1860 he lived in Washington Co TN with first wife. Later he moved to Graene Co TN. WILLIAM THOMAS, s/o Berry, m REBECCA MCNEESE in 1912. Betty would like to know who were WILLIAM'S parents and siblings, name of his older son who also fought in the Mexican War, who Viny married, other children, and name of wife or wives.

ESTHER MAE CERVETTO  24 Sea Way, San Rafael, CA 94901   descends from MELKIJAH
VAUGHAN who m DELILAH MCKENNEY and DISEY WESSON WALKER—all from Brunswick Co VA.  Evidently he returned to VA after signing the Constitution in Huntsville, AL in 1819. No record found of his death or where buried. Dicey was buried in Kelly family cemetery in Madison Co AL.

MARGRET DELEURER  1 E.. 8th St., Hobart, IN 46342 is searching for her mother's cousin EMILY MEDLEY VAUGHN who lived in Chicago. Emiily, dau/o EDWARD MEDLEY, was born ca 1890 in MO- She was mother of son Jack and two girls.

LA.SELL DUNN, 5713 Schuti, Houston, TX 77032   descends from ROBERT VAUGHAN (see
.newsletter Oct 1984) had a dau HARRIET WELLS who lived in TN in 1843. His son JAMES
was in TX by 1375. Son Robert went to MS and was at Buena vista, Chickasaw Co or. a  farm next to JAMES C. KING (LaNell's gfather) in 1870. The other known child, MARY M. d in Brunswick Co VA in 1843, leaving her husband CHARLES R. KING and six small  children.
