LOLA CLARK, Box 106, Kilbourne, IL 62655 is interested in information on Rev.ELISHA VAUGHN
who performed the marriage of JOHN R. CHANEY & MISSOURI GREGORY, 1834, in Sumner Co
TN and also BOSWELL T. GREGORY s, ELIZABETH MOORE in 1832 in Wilson Co TN. Rev.
Vaughn also vouched for an ISAAC GREGORY on his pension papers, having been a neighbor in
Pittsyvania Co VA and "well acquainte" with him in Simmer Co TN.

CLIFTON HORNBERGER, 2822 Lepage, Apt. 4. New Orleans, LA 70119 wishes to find ancestors
of MARY ELISABETH (7) VAUGHAN b in MS in 1845. She married JOEL EAST in 1850. He served
the South in Civil War as a drummer boy. Mary, according to 1850 S 1860 MS censuses had a sister
named ELISABETH who was born in MS in 1837. In the 1850 census, two little girls, named Elisabeth
s Mary Vaughan, were living in a hotel in Brookhaven with no other person named Vaughan. According
to the 1840 census, an Elisabeth Vaughan who seemed to have been born in 1837 was living in Brookhaven
with a father named HENRY, a brother named Henry (b 1833), and a mother (not named). Could that
Elisabeth and the Elisabeth whose younger sister was Mary Elisabeth have been the same person? Clifton
has seen a tombstone in a country churchyard in MS of a Henry Vaughan who was the husband of a
MARY EAST. It just so happened that MARY ELISABETH VAUGHAN EAST named one of her
daughters Mary. Can you help with this mystery?

DAVID MOCKLESOY, 8222 Gault Lane, Apt. 1207, San Antonio, TX 78209 can give information on

GRACE F. RUSSELL, 1759 Marshall Aye., Stoclcton, CA 95205 knows very little about her family. Her
gr grandfather was THOMAS COLEMAN VAUGHAN (b in TN). His son was GEORGE WASHINGTON
VAUGHAN b 1850 in TN. Family moved to Monroe Co MS where George W. m MARTHA TENNESSEE
LITTLE. Their children were; ANNIE, NANNIE, THOMAS COLEMAN. JOSIE, LULA, BATIE, ADA,
CORA S GEORGE W. JR. Batie (ro of Grace Russell) was 7 years old when her father died ca 1889. He
is buried in Smithville, MS cemetery, Monroe Co. The Vaughan family lived in the Smyrna, TN araa before
traveling down the Natchez Trace to MS.George W. and his family lived on a small farm near Mt. Zion
Church between Amory and Smithville. After his death his wife and girls lived there until all the girls were
married. Son Thomas Coleman wouldn't live in the house after the deaths of his father and brother in the
house so we went out and worked for someone else, and the girls worked the farm.

THOMAS D. VAUGHAN, Rt. 1, Box 295-A, Pell City, AL 35125 found AUGUSTUS and MARTHA
VAUGHAN listed with their children CAROLINE, JAMES, S WILLIAM in 1880 Morgan Co AL census.
Augustus, along with bro THOMAS H., bro JOHN HENRY (who probably settled around Chattanooga,
TN area), and a sister AGNES (who is supposed to have m. JAMES DELAY and settled at Carbon Hill,
AL) are part of the children of BENJAMIN VAUGHAN S CAROLINE JORDAN, m 1837 in Stewart Co
GA. Can you help him find marriage data on these people in GA or AL?
