MARY, ANAGNOST, P.O. Box 867, North, Bend^ WA 98045 shares the extensive research
she has collected on Claiborne Vaughan. His pension record states "Dr. Claiborne Vaughan...
departed this life without leaving any lineal descendants: and "that the said WILEY VAUGHAN
is a brother and heir at law of the said Dr. Claiborne Vaughan." The following is a quote from a
letter she received from the librarian of Laurens Co, SCs "Clayboroe Vaughan is listed in the
1800 census in Onion County. After 1800 he moved into Laurens Co. Enclosed are copies
of the deeds'-one where he sold a negro child age 4 for $150. Another is one where they are
settling an estate of an EDMOND FERGUSON of VA, and clayborne Vaughan and his wife
MARY were heirs. Clayborne died in 1819. His will states he had tan children. His property,
a large estate, was sold at auction. A WESLEY SEYMOUR received a bequest. Mary Vaughn
died in 1823, leaving no will, and property was sold at auction. Notice of the estate sale of Mary
was read at Salem Meeting House, a Methodist Church, in 1823. Also COLEMAN CARLISLE,
who witnessed Clayborne's will was a well-known early Methodist preacher of Union County, so
more than likely these Vaughns were Methodists." In one of the transfer deeds, ten children are
named. These children were;

WILLIAM 'BILLY" VAUGHAN, b 1839, d 1908, m. FRANCES ELIZABETH HERRIMAM.
Name of "Billy's" parents are not known, but siblings were HESEKIAH b 1311, DANIEL b 1820,
ELIZABETH b 1823, DECLANY b 1832, WILLIAM b 1839. She hopes someone can give more
information on these families.
