MORE INFORMATION ON INGRAHAM VAUGHAN
In the January 1984 issue MARY LANCASTER P.O. Box,2068^ Florence AL 35631 quotes from
A HISTORY OF LAUDERDALE CO AL by Jill Knight Garrett, p. 87:   Ingrain Vaughan-age given
as 77 years in 1834, when he was enrolled as a pensioner; served as private, captain and sergeant in
the VA Continental Line and Militia

CLARA. PARK, 3212 Kirkcaldy, El_ Pasg, TX 79925 adds that the Lauderdale County officers
informed her that they did not find the name of Ingrain Vaughan in any of their indexes. She says that
he was born 1757 and is the brother of MARTHA PATSY VAUGHAN who married FRANCIS
MOODY in 1789. Ingrain Vaughan died in 1834 in Morengo Co, AL; his brother REUBEN
VAUGHAN, Jr, died ca 1837. Clara and her husband Wilbur have published a book entitled
FRANCIS MOODY, HIS ANCESTORS, DESCENDANTS. AND RELATED FAMILIES,
AND ALL MOODYS IN CHESTERFIELD CO, VA. There are 45 pages of data on Martha's
Vaughan family connections. The research is based almost entirely on 16 years of studying microfilms
of original records and searching in the original court records in various courthouses. There are 183
footnotes for the Vaughan research. If you are interested in securing a copy of this well documented
book, contact the Parks.   Also see the proceeding data on VAUGHAN - WILCHER - HAMMOND
connections.

RESEARCH OF WIIAIAM VAUGHAN BY LEONARDO ANDREA
MARGUERITE MARCHMAN 901  E. Missouri Ave.., New Port Richey, FL 33552 alerted me to
extensive records compiled on Vaughans by LEONARDO ANDREA (deceased). These records are
on micro-film in the Carolinian Library at the University of South Carolina. They may be "hand copied",
but all rights are owned by his sister Miss Conie Andrea, 4204 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205.
I then wrote Miss Andrea and asked for permission to print the records copied by Marguerite. She
graciously gave her consent for the following to be printed;
WILLIAM VAUGHAN, Rev. War Pension (11 691 was b 22 May 1764 in Northhampton Co NC
(VA) and lived the first 8 years of his life in VA in Brunswick Co. He then removed with his parents to
Craven Co SC, later known as Cleremont (now Sumter). He died in Sumtar Co SC 21 Sep 1857..in
1858 his widow, ALICE VAUGHAN, was still alive and drew his pension. He volunteered for service
in Craven Co., SC in Oct 1780. He was married in 1789/90 to ALICE COOK. She stated in 1858
that she was aged 75, but the same year her daughter Alice in a letter to the Pension Bureau stated her
mother was aged 84. William and his wife stated they had 13 children in all.   In 1858 all of the children
were dead save Mrs. EMILY DARGAN, Mrs. FRANCES CASSELS, Mrs. ALICE D. MITCHELL
who that year stated she was aged 48 years and resided in Sumter Dist. , SC. In 1833 Mrs. John
REYNOLDS stated that she was a sister of William Vaughan and that she remembered when her brother
William came home from the war.
Marguerite descends from FRANCES CASSELS who married HUGH GAMBLE CASSELS in 1833.
She believes the parents of William were HENRY VAUGHAN and Elizabeth __. Can you help her prove
this? This "William" is shown on page 14 of the 1985 edition of the NEWSLETTER under the Index of
Rev War Pension Applications. Marguerite is also interested in the following families: CASSELS,
GAMBLE, BROOME, WATSON, MATCHETT, AND WIMBERLT.
