BILLIE M. GOLDWIRE, 819 Elizabeth Drive, Forest Park, GA 300SO hopes a reader will provide
clues to some of her family history. Her gr grfather was THOMAS H.VAUGHAN of Wilson & Dyer
Cos TN, whose grfather was THOMAS VAUGHAN from Pittsylvania Co VA (He was first recorded
in Milson Co TN in 1807). A gr-uncle JOHN VAUGHAN left TN for TX after the Civil War. Help!

MABEL HARP, 401 S. Powell, Wagoner, OK 74467 sent transcribed copies of the two applications
that NANCY CALLICOTT VAUGHN made for the Widow's Pension on the Rev. Mar service of her
husband JOHN VAUGHAN. She was never able to prove her marriage, so never drew a pension. If
you would like to have a copy of these, send an SASE plus extra stamps to pay for copying the five
pages, which include pages of John Vaughn's notebook listing names and dates of children's births.
These were attached to Nancy's application for a widow's pension. Mabel also calls attention to errors
in the family sheet for William A. Vaughan, contributed by Johnette L. Franke, printed in the Jan. 1985
issue; He is buried in Cedar Cemetery, just east of Luella, TX, Grayson Co, close to Sherman. SARAH
ANN is buried beside him and their son GEORGE W. is beside her. Also: MALVINA VAUGHN
BRUMMET d 17 Jul 1901, not 17 Aug. She died young, leaving 3 small boys. Mabel has information
on a new book on CALLICOTTS written by John Callicott.

MARGRETA HARR, RR 1, Box 23, Cory, IN 47846 asks who were the parents and siblings of

DRUSILLA VAUGHN HOLMES, 3200 Ayres-Holmes Bd, Auburn CA 95603, is searching for
the parents of her gr father JAMES VAUGHH b VA 1824. possibly his mother or his sister was named
NANCY because she has a tintype photo of a lady with that name written on the back.   Family stories
say he went o CA first in "49 Gold Rush" and returned east for his family in 1852. His first wife
ELIZABETH and one child died on the trail west, but a son "LEM" survived. Later he married
Elizabeth's younger sister DRUSILLA ATKINSON and they raised Lem and nine of their own ten
children. Jaroes and Elizabeth were m in MO 23 Aug 1846.

Clifton HOBNBERGER, 2822 Lepage, <4, New Orleans, LA 70119 drew my attention to a mis-type in
the Jan. 1985 issue, p. 9. JOEL EAST was born in 1850—not married. He also noted that in the early
1830's a certain HENRY VAUGHAN claimed land in GA. Was it that he owned land in Cherokee Co.,
GA or land owned by the Cherokee in GA7 Help!
