MORE ON THE WILLIAM AND FEREBY VAUGHAN STORIES

Have you read differing versions of the story about the family of William and Fereby Vaughan?
Reading these gives an understanding of how facts can become jumbled, and especially,
generations mixed together.

In the January 1984 a review of VAUSHAM PIONEERS by Lewis E. Vaughan was printed.
Then in the January 1985 issue a review of VOICES OF OLD MEM RECALL FAMILY history
FOR COURT by Henry P. Scale was given. Both these books ara well-known and repeated often.

In the Hawkins Co TN Library, I found 25 loose pages of material on the Vaughan Family—some
of which seems to have been written by Lewis Vaughan who challenged some of Scalf's conclusions.
Other pages seem to have been parts of the EAST KENTUCKIAN, Journal of Geneology and
History, Henry Scalf. Editor, Box 107, Stanville, KY 41659. These pages give detailed names, births,
etc. on many Vaughans.   Other pages may have bean part oE the ARKANSAS FAMILY historian.

References are made to CORA PINKLEY who also wrote of the adventures of her kinsman William
Vaughan, Welsh adventurer, Indian trader, and packman who cama to Anerica late in the seventeenth
century.

As most of the pages had no name of editor on them, it was hard. to distinguish just exactly which
belonged to whom. It reminds one that all pages should be labeled to protect against loss.   Also,
researchers need to be careful when working in loose paper files because they can easily become
confused and destroyed.

Anyway, the pages are interesting in that they add to the mystery of this (or
these) couples.

BETTY SEPGLEY, 552 Jan Drive, Fairhope, AL 36632 is interested in a SARAH VAUGHN who
married 1775 ISAAC NEWTON WHITE (b 1755).  Isaac and Sarah left Guilford Co NC for
Washington Co TN after the Rev. Mar.  Eleven children were born to them. One, BOBERT WHITE,
 m REBECCA HARROLD (?); and another, WILLIAM S., B JANE CALDWELL.She believes
descendants of these people live in or near Johnson City, TN, but she has not been successful in
contacting them.  She hopes someone in East TN has the family records which would establish Sarah's
dates and parents.

CAROLYN VAN WICKLE, 14 Belvedere Terrace, Hot Springs, AR 71901 is excited to find that
others have the ancestor HUNDLEY (HUNLEY) VAUSHAN in common with her. Her line begins
with JACOB STRICKLAND, a Rev. War soldiar, and PATRICILLA YOUNG'S thirteenth child
SARAH who m LITTLEBERRY VAUGHAN whose father was Hunley.  Sarah and Berry (as her
records list him)'s fourth child "Puss" m BOB SCOTT and moved to Texas,  Puss's sister
SOPHRONIA m WILLIS WEBB.  She hopes to find others working the Hundley Vaughan line as
well as those interested in the Strickland lineage. Other names in the line are SIMS, WHEELER,
AND BELTON.  Any connections?
