ODDS AND ENDS
The next time you are at Mount Vernon, home of George and Martha Washington,
notice the splendid marble mantelpiece provided to Washington by his great
admirer SAMEUL VAUGHAN. He also gave General Washington a suite of highly
decorated Worcester vases
A SPECIAL NOTE TO THE DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS VAUGHAN AND WIFE LEAH MCCARTY:
I have established membership in the Daughters of the Revolution through
the record of Capt. ROBERT KYuE. CAPT. KYLE was the grand-father of
LEAH MCCARTY, whose parents were RACHEL KYLE and WILLIAM MCCARTY. If
you are interested in having a copy of the material used to prove this line,
please contact me. (Verna Banes).
ROBERT YOUNG VAUGHAN, son of THOMAS and LEAH married MARTHA ANGELINE TRIPLETT.
I have records on the TRIPLETT family dating back to 1650 England.
Also a book written by Mrs. HORTENSE E. ABBOTT "Tripping Down the Triplett
Path" details extensive research on this family* Write me for further
details.
Family tradition indicates that the father of THOMAS VAUGHAN was JAMES, but
we have no definite proof of this—or of which JAMES. One source states:
"Thomas's father, JAMES VAUGHAN, and two of his brothers, were Virginians,
and one became a physician of note." Can anyone help prove "which"
JAMES this was? Membership in the DAR and other organizations cannot
be established on the VAUGHAN line until this proof is verified.

THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE ARCHIVES, 109 East Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27611 requires
the payment of a $2. payment of a Search and Handling Fee before replying
to inquiries received from researchers living in states other than NC,
This fee is to accompany the request for information on one
record or one person's record. It is in addition to any cost that may be involved in copying a record.
The report of the search will include a statement of copying costs. The Archives has created and made
nationally available various lists, indexes, and abstracts, A search involves locating the actual record,
examining it to determine what form of copying and how many copies it will require to reproduce the
record, flagging it for subsequent copying, making a reply and subsequently processing the order for a
copy. I have used this service and found it to be very satisfactory
