and MARY ELLEN NAPIER. His father was THOMAS VAUGHAN. CYNTHIA'S dau is

(b 1855, d 1875) and MEEKIE JANE VAUGHN were both married to JAMES FRANCIS
BROWN. MARY'S son was EDD CROSLIM BROWN, b 1872. Meekie's children were: LIZA.
CLYDE, MARY, BERTIE, AND TOM. Mary and Meekie's parents were WILLIAM H. VAUGHN
(s of JAMES H. VAUGHN & TRISSIE HOLDER) and ELIZABETH DAVIS. Where did they come
from: VA or TN?

TIMOTHY VAUGHN, who left a will in New Kent Co VA in 1759. He mentions wife SARAH and
among children, a dau MARY VAUGHN who ra WILLIAM NANCE of Halifax Co VA. WILLIAM
NANCE left a will in 1801 in Halifax Co VA that mentions sons THOMAS VAUGHN NANCE and
ZACHARIAH
NANCE. MARY LOU has extensive records on the BATES family, descendants of the Nance family.

HUDSON VAUGHAN, b in Rodney, MS in 1860, one of twelve children born to JOHN SMITH
VAUGHAN (1832-1906) and wife MARY ANNA HECKLER (d. 1924). Family tradition says that
JOHN SMITH VAUGHAN was named for Capt. John Smith of Pocahontas fame and was a
descendant of SIR GWENNETH VAUGHAN.

(b NEW BERN, SC 1798, d. 1856 Clarke Co AL) m 1828 LETTITIA HADEN MILLER (1816-1366).
He thinks the S. stands for Singleton and that John's mother was SARAH SINGLETON, b ca 1774 and
his father was JOHN BRADFORD VAUGHAN (1760-1845). John S.may have been bro of ELIZABETH VAUGHAN b 1796 and m LAUGHLIN MCKAY in 1813.

in OK. Thomas's father was JEFFERSON DAVIS VAUGHN, b near Atlanta, GA. The family seems to
have come to this country from Wales in early 1800*s. He has more information on this family.
