VOL. II. #1, January 1984

Because there are many spelling variations of the name VAUGHAN, we have changed the
title of this quarterly publication to VAUGHAN, ETC. NEWSLETTER.  Vaughan is the
spelling most- closely associated with our own particular family line; so when in
doubt, we spell it that way.  In the next edition, we will print information about
the origination of the name--in its many forms.  Do you have something to contribute
about the history of the name and of the early families in Great Britain and America
who bore this name in one of its forms?

Many. many thanks to the people who requestad^ copies of the first two editions of
the VAUGHAN-VAUGHN NEWSLETTER-  Your comments have been gratefully received and
have encouraged us to continue.  We now see there is a desire for a publication
dealing with these family lines*  Sixty-five copies of this edition will be mailed.

The hours of work involved irT putting all this together is done voluntarily; but
the printing costs, which we have been paying ourselves, are mounting -  postage
costs have also not been covered entirely by SASE's.  We are enjoying doing this,
but could you help us defray these expenses by sending a participation fee of ?5.
for 1984?  This will cover printing and mailing costs and allow us to expand the
number of pages printed. .No longer will you be bothered with sending a SASE.      '

This fee will also provide funds to send complimentary copies to historical and
genealogical societies, etc.  If you are a member of one, please send us the correct
name and address.  Copies are also sent to newspaper genealogy columns,

We are PUBLICITY SEEKERS!!.  It has been through an announcement in "ANSEARCHIN'"
NErtS and newspaper genealogy columns that we have found readers wh*-.' are interested
in researching VAUGHAN family lines.  People from the states of Indiana, New Jersey,
Tennessee, Oregon, Illinois, Oklahoma, Washington, Alabana, Ohio. Texas, Virginia,
Florida, California, Kentucky, New Mexico, Nevada, Nebraska, and Maryland are on
the mailing list.  So thanks to those of you who sent us copies of genealogy columns
in your newspapers.  Keep those columns coming.  This method of getting publicity -
Is important,

Special thanks go to VICKI SCOTT who writes INDIANA ANCESTORS for THE INDIANAPOLIS
STAR-  Her mention of our newsletter brought good responses-

Any information about your VAUGHAN family and other stories that can be printed
in future editions is needed.  Send it to us.  Sharing is what this is all about.
If you are lucky enough to make a connection through information printed here,
let us know.  That is what makes the effort worth all the work involved in collecting
and publishing this newsletter,
