William Vaughan/Vaughn was born in 1774 died before 1850. He supposed to have married Margaret (Peggy) Wells on November 17, 1814. There was a Margaret Vaughan/Vaughn who died after June 11, 1870 based on the 1870 Census, but was unable to verify her maiden name was Wells.

Margaret's son George Washington Vaughan (confirmed earliest known ancestor) was born 15 Sep 1818 in Hancock Co, TN and died 7 Dec 1908 in Hancock Co, TN.

He also went by G.W. Vaughan/Vaughn, found it spelt both ways, on headstone it is Vaughn.

He married to a Mary (Polly) (unsure of last name, no info on her) and possibly an Elizabeth (unsure of last name, no info on her).

Their son George Washington Vaughn (nickname Washey) was born in 1861 and died in 1952.

He married Martha Francis Campbell.

Their son Grant Edgar Vaughn was born in 1905 and died in 1974.
