AMELIA COUNTY, VIRGINIA VAUGHAN FAMILY Deed Abstracts Note: Initially Robert and Thomas settled right next to each other and gave some of their children the same names. Sometimes, it is a little tricky figuring out who is who. Also, Robert, Thomas and Isham, each named a son Nicholas. Trying to separate these is likewise hard to do. |

Isham Vaughan, the Elder believed to be Isham of Dinwiddie Co. and believed to be a Member of the Orange Group. This Isham first appears in deeds before the younger Isham reached maturity. He owned land near descendants of Nicholas Vaughan. Accordingly, he is most likely a member of the Orange DNA Group. Based on Colonial Tithe Tax Lists, his sons are Isham, Jr. (Isham 3), b. ca 1738 (See 1754-1755 tithables lists); Frederick, b. abt. 1750 (See 1766-1768 tithables lists & VA Amelia DB 11.149); and Nicholas (VA Amelia DB 12.243 & VA Amelia DB 14.121). |
